The Rev Dr Andrew Burgess has been appointed Dean of Bishopdale Theological College in Nelson.
Dr Burgess is well known within the college as a teacher and is widely respected as an academic theologian.
He was a member of the working groups that set up Bishopdale Theological College and has extensive experience in grassroots ministry in local contexts.
He will serve out three months’ notice as Vicar of All Saints’ Church and begin his new role at BTC around February.
Announcing the appointment, the outgoing Dean, the Rev Dr Tim Harris, said Dr Burgess “is someone who understands and is committed to the vision for BTC and recognises the vital importance of this area of ministry for the well-being and witness of the wider church.
“I am confident that the vision for the ongoing growth and development of BTC is in good hands. In God's grace and providence, I anticipate much fruit in coming years under his leadership.”
Dr Burgess and his wife Rebecca have three children: Ruby-Ann, George and Henry.
