Common Grace Aotearoa welcomed the Aotearoa New Zealand Coalition Government's call for immediate humanitarian aid to Gaza today, and encouraged Christians across Aotearoa New Zealand to consider fasting, praying and writing to political representatives to call for more action to end the humanitarian emergency caused by Israel's military action in Gaza.
Common Grace made a special call today to its network of Christians committed to justice, peace and the common good, asking for urgent prayer for the needs of the Holy Land.
"In the context of the appalling suffering in Gaza, where the UN's Humanitarian Chief has warned 14,000 babies are at imminent risk of dying in the next 48 hours if unrestricted aid is not let in, Common Grace Aotearoa joins with Aotearoa Christians for Peace in Palestine's invitation to fast, pray and act to defend the lives of those being killed in Gaza."
"If you’re able, consider joining with others around the world by choosing a day this week to fast for Gaza."
Common Grace Aotearoa is calling on all Christians, including Anglicans to write to Government ministers or local members of Parliament today, in support of legislation to apply sanctions on Israel's Government, sending a clear message that starvation is not an acceptable outcome of Israel continuing to pursue its military aims unmitigated by their deadly impact on civilians in Gaza.
