The recently established International Pentecostal–Anglican Commission (IPAC) has met for the first time this 15-20 June at Bethel Church in Rapid City, South Dakota, USA.

The International Pentecostal–Anglican Commission was set up as a result of decisions by the Anglican Consultative Council (Resolution 16:22, 2016) and the Pentecostal World Fellowship to explore ecumenical dialogue together.

During the in-person meeting Commission members explored the rich complexity of their different theological, historical, liturgical and missiological traditions and, in particular, the models of unity that each tradition sought.

The Commission also heard stories and examples of the relationship between Anglicans and Pentecostals in different parts of the world and noted their great variety.

At the conclusion of this initial meeting of the Commission, members resolved further to explore the theme of A Transforming Holiness and topics including the basis of our shared faith, worship, discipleship and formation, mission and service.

While in South Dakota, USA, at the invitation of the Pentecostal World Fellowship, the Commission received the welcome of Bethel Church in Rapid City, the District Superintendent of South Dakota Assemblies of God, the Reverend Stephen Schaible, Trinity Bible College, Ellendale and the generous hospitality of Mr Sonny Schriner and Mrs Mary Schriner.

Looking forward, the Commission set up working groups to prepare for the next meeting, which is scheduled to take place between 10-16 June 2023.
