Strandz gets kids ready for Easter

Strandz has produced two exciting new ministry resources to help Kiwi families chart their course through the Easter season.

This year Strandz has developed two sets of practical resources to help children and families journey through Holy Week, Easter and beyond.

Strandz, which is the childrens ministry resource hub for Tikanga Pākeha, has put out two new packs of decorations with an illustrated fold-out that retells the Holy Week and post-Easter stories in vibrant colour and all-age language. The decorations are based on the concept of a Jesse Tree, and are designed to hang on a bare-branched Easter tree, or around homes.

"These resources are a great way to help connect the dots and grow our faith - and it’s not just for kids. All generations can enjoy these reflections together." says Sarah Bracewell from All Saints' Hataitai children's ministry team.

Each decoration has a colourful original illustration designed by Diana Langdon for Strandz, while the foldout asks families to ‘Look up! Look in! Look out!' – not only to navigate the Easter stories, but to look for where God is at work in our Easter season.

Journey to Easter pack traces Bible stories from Holy Week: Palm Sunday, Jesus in the temple, Mary pouring perfume on Jesus’ feet, Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday.

Journey to Pentecost pack travels between Easter Sunday and Pentecost, with stories from the road to Emmaus, Doubting Thomas, Peter and Jesus, the Ascension and Pentecost.

The resources can be used to focus reflections over the seven weeks between Easter and Pentecost, with an extra week to look at how you and your family fit into God’s big story.

While there are great questions and discussion starters for the family dinner table, you could also share it with older generations, rest homes, school classrooms or intergenerational settings.

A web link provides extra Strandz resources online with media, printable images and other ideas.

Each pack costs $5 + postage, and can be ordered online from the Strandz website:
