Dean bars civic choir performance

The Dean of Nelson turns down a civic choir performance of "The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace."

Jayson Rhodes  |  09 Sep 2015

The Dean of Nelson Cathedral, the Very Rev Nick Kirk, has decided to not allow a performance by the Nelson Civic Choir in the Cathedral of a composition entitled The Armed Man:  A Mass for Peace.

The composition includes religious texts from the Bible and the Muslim call to prayer.

The decision by the Dean should not be seen as reflecting the stance of the Diocese of Nelson, nor the wider Anglican Church in Aotearoa New Zealand.
