The Diocese of Auckland met as an Electoral College at the weekend to nominate an assistant bishop for the diocese.
The proceedings in Holy Trinity Cathedral were confidential, so no reporting is possible. Up to 300 representatives of parishes and mission units were involved in the process.
The college's nominee must now be approved by a majority of all the other bishops of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia. Members of General Synod/Te Hinota Whanui also are involved in the process, which can stretch to several weeks.
