Bible Society launched a plug-and-play Kiwi Bible at this year's Parachute Music Festival.

Called Audible, it’s a USB drive with MP3 files and is aimed at the “connected” generation,” says distribution manager John Watson.

It features the New Testament (New Living translation) read by a Kiwi for Kiwis, and was produced in partnership with the Rhema Broadcasting Group.

Bible Society's shop at Parachute – a first – drew around 17,500 browsers by staying open over 12 hours a day.

“We were blown away by the huge interest in our large range of Bibles and Bible-related products," John adds.

"Hundreds purchased Bibles. It was an endurance event, what with the long hours and the 30deg heat, but it was worth it.

“A number of people in their 20s who had stopped going to church in their teens popped in to buy a new Bible to help them re-engage with God.

"Some were keen to share their stories with us, and we were encouraged to see and hear how God had been at work in their lives.”
