Hamilton celebrated a milestone over the weekend: 150 years since its founding as a city and the first act of worship on the site of St Peter’s Cathedral.

A civic ceremony was held in the morning with activities across the city. The day ended with Choral Evensong in the Cathedral.

The celebration had an enlarged choir, with Auckland's Holy Trinity Cathedral Choir joining local choristers.

Bishop Helen-Ann Hartley preached at Evensong. She also welcomed her predecessor, Archbishop Sir David Moxon, who is on leave from his role in Rome.
