College Trust lifting its profile

The St John's College Trust Board wants to raise awareness of its activities across the Church and the wider community.

The St John's College Trust Board wants to raise awareness and understanding of its activities across the Church and the wider community.

Chair of the Trust, Stephen Jacobi, says in this bicentennial year of the gospel being proclaimed in Aotearoa New Zealand it is appropriate that all involved in the mission of the church tell their story of the past and also look to the future.

“The Trust began with an initial 1500 pounds and has built on this inheritance to further the mission of God," he says. "Last year it distributed $13.5 million to fund the education needs of the Church.

“This is a taonga we all share in and the Trustees want that to be done in a transparent way that brings about the best for the mission of the Church."

A website offers resources, news and legislation about the Trust, including its strategic plan to 2016.

The address is www.sjctb.co.nz

Key strategies include transparency and a wider understanding of Trust activities. These include;

  • Careful stewardship of the Trust’s assets and distributions
  • A stronger relationship with Te Kotahitanga in its work
  • A stronger involvement in the life of St John’s College
  • Raising the profile of the Trust through websites and key relationships
  • Ensuring high standards of governance and management

The Trustees will meet more regularly with church entities, including St John’s College.

Mr Jacobi says a more regular flow of information with other entities leads to stronger relationships that benefit the Church and the wider community.
